It varies but a typical session will run like this. Firstly I will help you to visualise the outcome you'd like. Then we set objective for the session, clear items from the area to be sorted, make decisions about what to keep/let go of, organise items so that they are easily accessible and give everything item a designated home. We may also look at some processes and useful habits.
will you make me get rid of all my stuff?
Absolutely not. We will work together to help you achieve your desired outcome. I will assist you to make decisions about what to keep and what to let go off and hopefully offer you a new perspective on your possessions. Ultimately all decisions will be yours
I haTe wastE, how do you stop things going into landfil?
I dislike waste too and I try to encourage my clients to be as environmentally sensitive as possible. Therefore we will recycle and reuse as much as we can. Plus when I leave I will happily take a car load of your donated items to a charity shop on my home home so that they can go on to have a new life.
How long does it take?
It is tricky to say as every client is different and has a different goal. You could expect to spend four hours on a wardrobe but it really does depend on how much there is and how quickly we can work. I work at whatever pace the client finds comfortable so it is different for everybody. Call me for a free consultation to get a better idea of time scales. Or you could book a home visit consultation for a one off fee of £35 for an hour (fully refundable off first booked session)
Shall i tidy up before you arrive?
There is no need to tidy up before I come, in fact, I suggest you leave everything as it is so that I can build up an accurate picture. However if you suddenly get the urge to purge, then please do go ahead and start. But please take some photos before hand so that you can see how well you've done and show them to me when I get there.
Shall i get some extra storage before the session?
I like to begin work with what you've already got. This not only saves money but also I often find the item that we need is already in the house and as we will be decluttering first, more storage is not necessarily needed. Once we have finished getting your house in order, by all means choose to buy something that's more to your taste, but whilst the process is ongoing we will only buy if we really really need it.
Can you take my clutter away?
Yes, I can take any items you wish to donate to a charity shop with me when I leave. This is included in my fee. I don't take rubbish as I don't not have a waste carriers licience
Why is the maximum session length four hours?
I find that after four hours, decision fatigue sets in and that our time together is not as productive as it could be. You need to be reasonably fresh and have enough energy to make an impact when decluttering and organising and I find my clients do much better and are more satisfied with the outcome when we cap sessions at four hours.
Do i need to be theRe?
Yes you will need to be there as you will ultimately need to make the decisions on what to keep or discard. Also by working together I can discuss with you new ways of organising and of course you will know where everything is at the end of the session.
